How to cure writer’s block:
1. Stop trying to write perfectly. Writing is messy and sometimes awkward. Write a mess and clean it up in revision.
2. Give yourself room for more brainstorming. You might be having a temporary lapse of imagination. Make up more stuff.
3. Give yourself more time. Each book takes the time that it requires. Writers must bend to the demands of the book, not the other way around.
4. Take a walk. Or a swim, or a run, or a roll, if you use a wheelchair. Do some kind of easy exercise away from the keyboard to refresh your body and mind. It worked for Charles Dickens….
5. Read other books. Writers need to be reading everyday, fueling their minds with words and images.
