TWISTED playlist – vote early, vote often!

I did it! (I think.)

Thanks to all of your great suggestions yesterday, and a very, very late last night with Stef and Amy and my husband, I have put together the first crack at the TWISTED playlist and I posted it on iTunes.

If you go to iTunes>Music>iMix, type in halse in the Search box for iMix Name. That should take you to it. (Does anyone know of a faster way to do this?) iTunes wouldn’t take the whole thing, so I mentioned the other songs in the Description. Vote for my mix! (You vote by rating it on iTunes.) Make me smile! Throw me a bone while I sit, chained to my desk, the fires of the deadline crackling at my feet, smoke curling upwards!

I am asking to create a new page for my website that will features playlists for all of my books. Here is what I have for TWISTED, so far. And yes, the order of the songs is important:

  3. Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Tori Amos are all fantastic. They seem to fit the mood/theme, but I’m sure he would actually listen to all these songs. I have yet to met a 17yo guy who listens to (or has even heard of) Randy Newman and I’m not holding my breath for that one.

  4. Nah – I don’t think this is what he would listen to… well, some of the songs he would, but not the whole list.

    But I think the songs – and the story arc they create – are in keeping with the moods and themes of the book.

  6. I can relate, cept it’s my Mom that sucks. I honestly think I’d cut her off if my little brother didn’t still live with her.

    My current playlist actually has one song by Radiohead, one by Tori, two by Pink Floyd and four by Nirvana. Nirvana helps me numb out.

  8. I’ve been a huge fan of hers forever…. she and I have many parallels in our lives. She works her stuff out in music, I work mine out in stories.

  9. I don’t have itunes but that sounds like an awesome playlist! I know most of the songs anyway. I love “Hallelujah”!! I can’t wait until the book comes out!

    Beautiful, eerie song by a wonderful artist. Not to say that the others are inferior (it’s a great playlist overall), but that one particularly stood out for me.

  12. I just finished reading your article, very intresting. I live just north of Syracuse so I read with intrest. I love how you defined our region with salt potatoes, never thought of it that way. I haven’t been to Hancock in awhile but its pretty sad that the coffee is cheaper then a gallon gas. But anyway I thought it was great. And its GREAT to live in CNY where if you don’t like the weather wait ten minutes.

  15. I if were to make a mix cd for Dubya, Randy Newman’s “Political Science” would be the first track. Although I doubt our president understands satire…

  16. Yay, How to Disappear Completely was like my anthem in high school! (Well but like then i mean as if my username here isnt a giveaway…) The songs on the list that i know of seem really good, i really like the list.

    I liked the part of your article where you talk about regions. One of my favorite movie directors says that Philadelphia is “diseased,” and i am starting to wonder if it is so. Even if you dont think CNY winters are tough, i still envy your ability to endure them.

  20. Hi there! I just watched the Speak movie and it was great. But I was wondering if you knew what song is playing when Melinda eats lunch in Mr. Freeman’s room for the first time. I can’t find it online anywhere! Sorry for asking, hee hee, I feel silly.

    I really loved the Speak book. I can’t relate to being raped but still I can relate to the way Melinda was treated in high school.
