Where’s Laurie?

*leaving on a jet plane…*

I did it. Apartment is clean. Inbox is empty. Info about my taxes is winging its way to Accountant Pete. Clothes and books are packed. So are powerbars, tea bags, and lots of Vitamin C. Ipod is charged. Bring it on!!!

I find that the term “book tour” sounds both pompous and stressful. Therefore, this is not a book tour. This is a road trip, courtesy of Penguin, my very nice publishers.

I love road trips!

Do you live in Seattle? Then come out and see me – be sure to tell me you come from LJ land. Here is my schedule for Monday:

11:30 AM – 1:30 PM Holy Names High School – I’m pretty sure this is for students only, but you could always call and ask.

All afternoon I’ll be cruising the city in an Authormobile, signing stock at the following stores. Click on the links to get more details about the stores, and my visit. If you need signed copies of my books, these are the wonderful bookstores that will have them.

All for Kids
Secret Garden Bookshop
Queen Anne Ave Books
Third Place Books

At this point, I’ll be inhaling some food. After I check my teeth for leftovers, we head out for a real, public book “event”.

7:00 – 9:00 PM Signing at Barnes & Noble, University Village
2675 NE University Village Street
Seattle, WA 98105
206-517-4107

Then I collapse at the hotel.

You don’t live in Seattle? Check out the whole tour schedule.

  1. Thanks… maybe a mysterious electrical malfunction will close your school for the day and you can come. Where there is life, there is hope!

  7. class gets out at 1:30 for me so I actually could make it to Barnes and Noble but I don’t think my car is tough enough for the drive. I’ll try and con one of my friends into taking me.

  10. So close, and yet so far

I wish you were coming to Ohio! I guess Indiana isn’t that far…but I doubt my parents will want to drive me… 🙁

On another note, I just wanted to let you know how excited I was to find that you had your own LJ. I love to read the LJs of my favorite authors…and you are definitely at the top of my list of favorite authors. I LOVE your books, and I can’t wait to read “Prom”. (It’s on hold at the library…should be getting it in a week or two.)

Thank you so much for your fantastic writing! I’ll post later to let you know how much I loved Prom, as I know I will…

  13. Have no fear, Agent Man (props to Francesca Lia Block). I’ll be in the Big Apple in mid-April for some One Book One City events (they chose SPEAK). I’ll post details as soon as they are available.

Ok…I called to get the low down…the school had never intended this to be a public event, as they have very limited space (most of the teachers will be standing). That said, when I explained I was a local public librarian who couldn’t make your evening reading, they were very nice and said I was welcomed to come by. So I’ll be the one with the crazy hair in the back trying to look a little more conservative than usual 😉
