Born into slavery in Lexington, MA. Served as a Minute Man and was wounded in the Battle of Lexington. After serving in the militia for several years, Easterbrooks served in the 3rd Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army. A memorial to Easterbrooks stands in front of the Buckman Tavern in Lexington. It honors Easterbrooks and the thousands of other patriotic African Americans who fought in the Revolution. The family who held Easterbrooks in slavery freed him after the war.
