WINTERGIRLS is waiting for you!

It is finally here: publication day!

It’s like the day when your baby is born, except without quite so much screaming and no stitches.

BH is making me breakfast, then I have to throw the last minute things in the suitcase and head for the airport. Today is just a travel day. Getting from Syracuse to Los Angeles is an all-day affair. I am bringing all of my gardening catalogs on the plane, and my March Madness bracket, too.

(Yes, I watched Baylor beat Georgetown in the NIT last night. Don’t rub it in.)

If you are near a radio at lunchtime, tune in to your local NPR station to listen to my interview on Here and Now. That is one of my favorite shows and it was an absolute thrill to be on it.

  1. I will be knocking down the door of my Barnes and Noble at exactly 9:30 so that I can get my copy. If I could, I would go right now, but as they don’t open for another hour and a half, I don’t think they’d like it very much if I showed up there and started banging on the door.

  2. Your books always seem to be released either on or around my birthday (the 19th)… it’s the perfect gift to get! I hope to run to the bookstore today and get it and then cozy up and read with some cake 🙂

  3. My Amazon-delivered copy of Wintergirls was waiting for me when I got home from work last night. Naturally, I sat down and read it straight through!

It is a terrific book that captures the psychology and nuance of the eating disordered mind perfectly. Amazing work–thanks!

  4. My amazon order shipped yesterday!! Of course, it’s going to Potsdam and I’m home in Syracuse for spring break, but I’ll only have to wait a few days.

  5. Congratulations

Congratulations! I should be cleaning house today, hmmm. Wintergirls or clean house? I’m off to B&N!

  6. Congratulations!
I wish you were coming to Toronto so we could meet in person.
I can’t wait to go out and grab a copy!

    *big hug*

  7. Haha – nice analogy.

Must be very exciting; congratulations! I’m definitely going to have to see if I can get out to the bookstore this weekend. Have a great day tomorrow!

  8. It’s like the day when your baby is born, except without quite so much screaming and no stitches.

This made me laugh like you wouldn’t believe!

And congratulations! Yay for the book release! *throws confetti*

  9. How exciting! Congratulations! I’ll be picking up my copy of Wintergirls tomorrow.

I have to work when NPR broadcasts your interview, but I plan on visiting the website to listen to it after I get home.

  10. Wintergirls

My copy arrived at 1:23 p.m. yesterday and I read straight through the rest of the day. WOW! All of the words I want to use to describe this book seem too ordinary. Lia is so vulnerable that you develop a real concern for her. I know, I know she is just a character in a book but she was real for me yesterday. I love the inner dialogue and you write it so well.
Thank you for writing another novel that will touch young girls and hopefully get them so help. You are truly gifted.
