Excellent discussion

There are some wonderful comments in reply to yesterday’s post about if writers should consider watching television as a way to improve their craft. You might enjoy reading them – please chime in with your opinion!

I’m still in need of teachers using SPEAK in the classroom so I can connect them with an Australian teacher looking for examples of how that book words with students. If you want to help, please email me at laurie AT writerlady DOT com and I’ll hook you up.

Busy day. If I get everything done, I plan on watching the NOVA special about training for the Boston marathon tonight.

Sending out prayers to you, Uncle Jim and Aunt Barb, and wishes for for a speedy recovery and return to strength!

  1. I wish you all my luck if you’re running. Three teachers at my old high school ran last year–I wrote an article for the school newspaper and got to interview them. It was very interesting: one is a math teacher who has ran 9 times…(she trains at night, after school) Her best time was the one she just ran! The other was an aid…They were always reminising about the running techniques and what they were eating (eat pasta run fasta’!!) and the ever gross wet shoe/vaseline on feet problem….so good luck!

  2. My marathon running is still in the dream phase.

The goal right now is to try and finish a marathon in 2008. I am a rather slow runner – the chances of ever finishing 26.2 miles in 4 hours (cut-off for my age bracket) are slim and none. I suspect it will take me somewhere between 5 and 6 hours, depending on the course and the weather.

But where there is life, there is hope, so I continue to run, dreaming of Boston. Er, jog. Errrr…. shuffle swiftly.

  3. well, your ahead of me since I have cerebral pasly and suck at running(read:dying) for more than a couple of miles…The weather is a huge problem..too cold, too hot. I admire everyone who runs/walks/skips/shuffles it. And I’m sure you are quite good since you did win the trophy for your age group in that last race! : )

  4. Random Question

Your icon… How come the letters are not in order, according to the standard QWERTY keyboard? The bottom row does not start with “W”, it starts with “Z”. Is there some subliminal reason for this??
