Floaty arms

Do you ever stand in a doorway and press your arms against the walls of the door frame and press and press and press until you start to feel like a real doof, then you step away and your arms float up like they have balloons tied to them and it feels a little out of your control and silly and like you don’t know what to do next because, let’s face it, it’s hard to do much with your hands flying up around your ears?

That’s what I feel like now that the draft of the new book is turned in. I have a million things to do, but I’m just wandering around the house not sure what I should do first.

Me = village idiot.

  1. I felt like that this summer, after I finished my MLS. It took me 8 years part time. It still feels weird not to have homework. But hey – I find other means of procrastination 😉

    What you should do first is relax and celebrate!

    What an awesome experience that must be! I wonder…does it ever get old? I should think not. Well, anyways…just take a deep breath and relax because it’s bound to be spectacular!

  3. I am like that ALL THE TIME. I’m a choreographer, so I have at least 4 dances that need my immediate attention plus other things related to running a dance company…I usually find myself wandering my apartment going “Where do I even begin? What should go first?”

    But I agree with freakfest– first you need to go out, have dinner and few drinks, and rent a movie that you’ve really been wanting to see before you dive into your to-do list. You deserve it! =]

  4. I have a very vivid memory of playing the doorframe-arm game in sixth grade…and then never again. So perhaps it’s time — thanks for the inspiration. And congratulations on finally finishing!
