TWISTED pics!

Attention Teachers & Librarians – there is a special note to you at the bottom of today’s entry. Be sure to scroll down!

BH survived Day One with The Knee. He was an excellent patient. Didn’t complain one bit when I brought out the rope and tied him to the couch. Not really. The Knee let him sleep some last night and it’s looking like it will be a fast recovery.

I have one more doc appointment this morning. I so begrudge all the time I waste on body maintenance; docs, dentists, etc., etc. But I am an ungrateful wench for even thinking that because at least I have health insurance. I should probably go flog myself. Oh, wait – I get to drive through another lake effect storm on the way to and from the doc. That will take care of my hubris and pissy attitude.

But you didn’t tune in this morning to hear me whine. You tuned in to see the photos of TWISTED.

What is the book about? I can never summarize my books, because it takes me about 250 pages to tell it. But a guy in the target audience who read an advance copy nailed it when he said: “TWISTED is about a painfully average guy going through hell.”

So…. what do you think? (FYI, the book goes on sale in the middle of March.)

TEACHERS! LIBRARIANS! Uncle Penguin sent me lots of reading guides – do you want a couple? If so, give me your snail mail address in the comments section, or email it to admin AT writerlady DOT com, and I’ll mail them off. Next week. AFTER this blasted draft is done.

  1. Aw, gee, thanks Dave! It is a homey tablecloth, well-worn and spotted with a thousand dinners and countless bowls of cereal.

  2. Not to be a cry baby (or worse- I can top THAT)about it but try developing a bad back and then having the insurance refuse to pay the bills ($800)
    because it was pre-existing!
anyway- I really like your personal blurb for the book–HAVE to read it now—
I think I can relate ha ha

  3. (sory about the bit of a rant-
hope BH recovers fully and safely)
    keep writing girl-
us fans and hopeful future writers
    need the inspiration!!!

  4. OMG, what a twisted, wonderful cover! Can’t wait to read it (heh, I won’t complain about how long it’s been between books, now that I’ve experienced this whole business for myself).

PS: Speak and Prom were gifts to my nieces this Christmas. My new rule: books for Christmas! Let your mom buy your slutty clothes. 🙂

  5. This is a very safe place in which to rant about the inequities of the American health care system. You go right ahead and rage against the machine, as long as it does not hurt your back to do so.

  6. I do love that cover. It reminds me of licorice — and I adore licorice. 😉 Great inside flap. Spare but intruiguing. Looking forward to reading the book.

  11. Ah yes in a school where the ratio boys:girls is about 10:1 I will take guides to any great “boy” books. Twisted looks like it qualifies. At school I am:

  12. i already commented once but i finished watching the commentary for Speak a little while ago and i must say at the end when you say “now go do your homework, you know you’re procrastinating” is very hilarious and made me crack up since that was exactly what I was doing.
damn that survey of mathematics and accounting principles =)

  13. Wow! It’s looks awesome! Also, I would love to get one of those reading guides. I am currently student teaching and am always looking for a way to entice my students to read! Shanna Malone

  14. Speak

Just finished reading your book for a class at University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), so you can add us to your list, and loved it. I have two boys, 16 and 18, and I must say you pretty much have the dialogue down pat.
Thanks for a great book, and I look forward to your new one, Twisted. Richard Cockrell, student UALR

  15. Speak

This isn’t about Twisted…but I do want to say that I so enjoyed Speak that I really look forward to reading more of your work, and using it in my classroom one day. The story was really powerful and I think that it teachs a great lesson. More girls need to understand the importance of doing things like that. I could relate to her so much…I have been ousted of my friends groups before on more than one occasion for speaking my mind, and it is really hard to figure out. Thank you so much for writing such a great piece.

  16. Reading Guide

I would love a reading guide to your new book, if you have any left. Diane Miller, Magnolia High School, P. O. Box 428, Magnolia, TX 77353. One of our teachers asked me about using Speak in her class. I told her it would be great. The kids will love it.
