Warning – mushy romantic post

Some of you know this story, but for those who don’t here goes.

I have known my husband since I was three years old. He was six when we met; an older, wiser man. Our mothers were best friends and liked to drink coffee in the afternoon, so he was in charge of walking me home from kindergarten. We spent a LOT of time together as kids, but never romantically. In fact, when our moms would predict we’d wind up together, we’d groan and shriek and spit “Ew!”

That attitude changed when we were hit with the puberty stick.

And then it changed again when I went away to college because we were young and stupid. We married other people and went almost twenty years without being in contact with each other. When our first marriages ended, our paths crossed again. The second time around we weren’t so stupid.

That’s us in the early days.

We wish all of you a love that is strong and pure and true. Happy Valentine’s Day.

  1. We lived 300 miles apart at the time… when he found out that my marriage was over, he wrote and asked me to give him a call the next time I was visiting the area where he lived. (His marriage was over, too.) There were cautious sparks. It took a couple of years of long phone calls, but we finally married in ’04.

  3. that’s very romantic. and perfect for valentine’s day. I grew up with a boy who’s mom said I was his future wife 😛 we didn’t see each other again until ’01 and then I saw his mom in ’02 who told me he had a job and was ‘being a grown man’. I don’t know if we’re destined for each other but I’d love to see him again. He was always so shy around me. Happy Valentine’s Day!!

PS. it’s so hard to believe that that’s actually you!!!!!

  7. Similar thing in my family

My mom’s mom used to say to her, “when you grow up, you should marry someone just like Jeff.”

But she married him instead. 🙂
