I hope this gets to Mrs. Anderson. I want to let you know about what you’ve done. It’s simply amazing, and I’ve been trying to navigate this website to let you know. My daughter is 13 and is not a reader. If she does read, it’s silly stuff with no real significance. I am a reader so this is hard for me, but I’m at the point that I’m just glad she’s reading something. Well, she came home from school with your “Fever 1793” book. I took a quick look at it and thought to myself, “dear lord she has no idea this is historical, a ‘period piece’…this won’t last long”. Of course I didn’t say anything about that, but I did ask her how she came to know of the book. Well apparently it’s “sweeping” her middle school and there is a wait list at the library. So she was intrigued. I still wasn’t going to hold by breath. I TELL YOU…SHE LOVED IT…COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN…DIDN’T WANT IT TO END…WANTED AN “AFTER FEVER” STORY!!! I just had to let you know. I had to. It was important. You did a good thing here. and I thank you…very much! Sincerely, Crescent L. Terry @ crescent3000@hotmail.com

As I read through all of the comments it occurs to me how not-alone I am with how I feel about your talent and product. So many people out there are screaming your name and thanking you for one thing or another, that it appears that you really don’t hear what they are trying to convey to you.
Laurie, you have, and continue to,inspire, entertain, and touch the lives of so many people with your gift. Time and time again you graciously accept their compliments and then go home to beat yourself with doubt about the next project.
You are who you are and most people are in awe of it’s simplicity.

Please remember that nomatter where you are, my hand is in the middle of your back..

    Your Knight

  7. Hehe…I was there!

I was so impressed by your honesty and you were amazingly inspiring. I actually want to become a writer and I’m quite passionate about it. I write poems, sometimes aphorisms, and keep a blog where I can let my creative side run wild. But I’m so doubtful and worried though – due to the fact that I will do it for its own sake- not to make money. You gave me some insight on what the professional world of an author is like though which is very helpful. I remember your concern about “boring us”… what silliness! I couldn’t stop listening if I tried and for me that’s huge because my mind chronically wanders off when people speak(teachers and peers alike, mostly peers though so no wonder!). Today was remarkable…thank you for coming, really. It was a delightful pleasure meeting you. =]

  10. No, it was in contrast to Tuesday. Tuesday I spoke to kids from six schools in an auditorium. Today I spoke to kids from one school in a library. While I had a blast on Tuesday, smaller crowds are nicer because I can see everyone.

I know – a sarcasm-free post from me. Shocking and rare.

  13. You were great!

I was a part of the student body in the Kings Bay Library today. I loved the way you were, very real!! It is hard to get teenagers to like you and you did it, I mean wow! I am speechless at the moment but I sure have a favorite author right now. Thank you so much for one of the best moments of my life. I feel thrilled to have met you. This was new for me and I loved it. I really don’t want to sound too fake but I am saying all of this from my heart. I will be checking your site more often and I really hope to read more of your work. Your fan, Lediona Shametaj–> lediona143@gmail.com 🙂
