Zzzzz…

I stayed up too late. Way too late. Reading – that filthy, mind-numbing, sleep-robbing habit of mine. I kept saying to myself, “One more page, one more page…”

I am a weak person.

The worst part is that when the alarm went off, it blew up the intense dream I was having. What was the dream about? I forgot because the stupid alarm clock went off. I hate that.

So people fantasize about owning fancy cars or skiing in the Alps. Me, I fantasize about a world without alarm clocks and being able to read as much as I want.

When I finally pry my eyelids open, I have to drive to Central New York for a week of school visits. But that’s not all. Careful readers of this journal know that my Beloved Husband lives up there, too. (We’ll finally be living in the same house this fall. Long story. Basically, we didn’t think it was fair to any of our kids (second marriage for us both) to move 300 miles just because we got married. So we’re waiting until the last of my brood goes to college. OK, that’s enough gossip for one day!)

So Beloved Husband has promised dinner will be ready when I get there. I am sure the Creature With Fangs (puppy) will be waiting too, waiting for that special moment when I walk in so she can get excited and lick me and yip and jump around and pee all over herself and then roll in it.

You gotta love puppies! Gotta love the BH, too – he’s the best.

  1. It’s funny that your talking about dreams. That seems to be the overwhelming theme of the week on LJ. At least on the journals I’ve been reading. Mine dream fits were a couple of weeks ago. I guess I have premature dreamification. I’ll see a doctor about that.

Nice seeing you on LJ. I took a workshop that you and Sonya Sones gave at the SCBWI summer con, I think 2002? You passed around finger nail polish and instructed us to get in touch with our inner teens. Very cool workshop. I only painted one of my fingernails. Later that day, another woman showed me her fingernails and asked if I had taken the workshop too. In response, I held up the fingernail I had painted…the middle one. I told her I found my inner teen. Fortunately, she had a good sense of humor and took it in the manner in which I meant it and we had a good laugh.

  4. ..the one keeping you in PA..

Heylo. Thank you for my Valentine’s day card and flower. I didn’t open either yet, I will wait, I promise. Michael says hello and is upset that we won’t be able to eat pizza and watch a crappy movie with you tomorrow night, but I’m sure you’ll be with us in sprit. Let’s see, what happened today? I gave my speech.. only a minute fourty five, but it’s okay. Mr. Jackass decided to use our airport again, so they closed down Horsham making me late to daddys house and to practice. Practice was fun.. we worked on new music, really cool. okay. bed time now. Love you!

  7. You are amazing

    Puh-lease!
I put you through three days of torture, dragging you from school to school with nary a break. I made you sleep in what was obviously a turn-of-the-century Reform School (I swear, the brochure didn’t look like that) and then my agency didn’t even have the decency to pay you in full. And you’re asking *me* what you could have done to make things better for me? You must be a saint-in-training. I’m calling the Pope to start the beatification process (once he feels a little better).

Seriously, you and Scot were wonderful. What good sports! No, there was nothing you could have done. The ED was just an asshole. I guess it happens. I hope you got what the money owed to you. But the whole Ken disaster was just one small part of the project, and I’m not sorry I did it. I can’t tell you how many teens came up over the course of the year to talk to me about what they’d read and how it affected them. The ED made things difficult, but I’m proud of what we did up there. I’m glad I got to meet you, and so grateful that you were willing to soldier on in spite of complexities.

We’re in Plattsburgh this weekend, and will be rolling through Mexico on Sunday. I’ll wave as I drive by. Curious — did you get your Renaissance wedding? I still have a present for you and Scot; it’s been in a box out at camp for… two years now? Any chance I could send it to you, and if so, where? I would really like you to have it.

    Thanks again,
    Tierney
