Seriously.

"Cutting libraries in a recession is like cutting hospitals in a plague."

You know you want this on a tee-shirt. Buy one for your state’s governor and your school board president while you’re at it.

I would like to buy one for my boss!! I’ve worked with the library up here in Traverse City, Michigan for 6 or 7 years now. And well she’s keeping the place up and running in a mostly orderly fashion she’s cutting a lot of the pay, hours, and benefits for employees as well as well as streamlining our jobs in a way that makes us less effective and helpful to the public, spreading us out into areas where there should be another employee to do the work instead of one person half-assing three positions. I understand that we’re paid through hard-earned tax dollars and respect that but I’m so disappointed to see my once happy co-worker’s stress seeping into the public’s desire to come to the library. They are paying for an experience that they’re no longer going to get.
