I love Partington's line about how "the characters encountered had a lot more in common with Early Man than they did with me" in the books of his youth. I identify with that. When I was young I just figured I wasn't finding the right books. It didn't dawn on me - then - that the books I found available hadn't been written as well as Laurie's are now. The world is a better place because of Laurie.</p> OH!
