Been tagged

Today’s post is brought to you by writerross who tagged me.

The Tag says:
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether or not they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re
listening to.

Before He Cheats, Carrie Underwood – just bought it, can’t stop singing it
Gonna Fly Now (Rocky’s Theme) – yeah, digging it
Waterfalls, TLC – love, love, love this song (video version slightly different than album)
Messiah, Handel – you don’t want to be around when I sing this
Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, The Night Heron Consort – I’m listening to an incredible amount of Christmas music
By The Fireside, William Allaudin Mathieu – excellent snuggling song
Welcome to the Family, Little Big Town – good beat for a 9:15 min./mile pace

In the spirit of the season, I’m not tagging anyone – y’all are too busy right now. But feel free to list your choices in Comments.

  1. I’ve been listening to a lot of Sufjan Stevens lately… and also the Rocky theme. Everytime I see ads for that movie I feel the need to climb up some stairs.

  2. Only 7? Damn.

Waterfalls- reminds me of jr. high. I love the Messiah and as a general rule I hate Christmas music, I’ve sang the whole thing in choirs twice and parts of it at least once.

    Grey Street- Dave Matthews
One Time at a Time- Loudon Wainwright III
    Comfortably Numb- Dar Williams
    Unravel- Sloan Wainwright
    Mr. Tambourine Man- Bob Dylan
    2 Points for Honesty- Guster
    Sleeps with Butterflies- Tori Amos

  3. Swiss Colony Beef Log–Eric Cartman
Love Me or Hate Me–Lady Sovereign
    Raspberry Swirl–Tori Amos
Electronic Behavior Control System–Emergency Broadcast Network
    Heads Will Roll–Thea Gilmore
    Extraordinary Machine–Fiona Apple
    Svefn-g-englar–Sigur Ros

The last one, and in fact the entire album, are what I’ve been listening to while going to sleep lately, and it’s been good for meaningful dreams.

  4. Re: Only 7? Damn.

That Dar Williams version is better than the original, and i LOVED the original, so that’s saying something.

    Thank you for the card!!!!!

  5. Re: Only 7? Damn.

I hate to say this ’cause I love Pink Floyd, esp. The Wall and the film and the whole concept album thing, (the psychology and symbolism just makes my little geek brain so happy), so this kinda feels like blasphemy since I sorta view Roger Waters and David Gilmore as psuedo-deities, but I kinda have to agree. Although the Pink Floyd live version is pretty damn amazing too, mostly because of the guitar part and David Gilmore’s voice. Dar Williams is fantastic though, I really need to go to a concert of hers sometime.

  6. How will I just choose 7?!?

“Wind It Up” – Gwen Stefani
    “Irreplacable” – Beyonce
    “Going To Boston” – Augustana
“Under The Gun” – The Killers
“Love Me Or Hate Me” – Lady Sovereign
    “Consolation Prizes” – Pheonix
    “Settle Down” – Cartel

  7. Going Through the Motions: Buffy the Musical
    Spirit Dancer: Ashling
    Hallelujah: Rufus Wainwright
    Heartbeats: José González
    No Frontiers: Mary Black
Please Don’t Bury Me: Rig The Jig
Óró, Sé Do Bheatha ‘Bhaile: Sinéad O’Connor

All of these are also songs I recently put on a mix CD to share with some friends.

  8. Eclectic is thy middle name.

    I like your list.

Long may we sing. (For me, behind closed doors. But still. It feels like heaven to let it out.)
