I know I am wicked behind on postings and updates, but whirlwind doesn’t begin to describe the last couple of days.
The most important thing right now is to tell you that the National Book Award events have been a blast; I am so honored to have CHAINS in league with the other spectacular books that were named finalists.
More details later, but here is one shot from last night.
Congratulations, Judy Bludell for winning the National Book Award for What I Saw and How I Lied, published by Scholastic. I wish you all could have heard her wonderful acceptance speech – it was top-notch and classy.
I’m off to the airport again, this time to hop a flight to San Antonio, TX for the National Council of Teachers of English Conference. More photos later, including a terrific shot of the attractive gentlemen who escorted me last night!
Your dress is amazing!! Sounds like it was a fun night. Have a good time at NCTE.
Laurie, that is a *beautiful* dress!
You both look pretty classy to me! Congratulations!!!
I LOVE your dress! And the earrings look really cool.
It sounds like it was a lot of fun.
And, to second what everyone else has been saying, the dress is gorgeous. You were able to find the perfect one, it seems.
I saw the article in this morning’s newspaper listing you as one of the nominees and I was all, “Hey, I know her!” (OK, just online, but still.) Congratulations again–you look fabulous. Our Scholastic Book Fair is going on right now, so I’ll have to find out if Judy Bludell’s book is available there.
Laurie, you look absolutely stunning! I sat in front of my computer last night, frantically hitting “refresh” as news from the awards ceremony was “Twittered”. I’m thrilled that you were nominated, and can’t wait to read Chains. Congrats!
WOW! You look drop-dead gorgeous!
I’m proud of you for earning a nomination.
Congratulations to you, too!
You are all winners–such an incredibly amazing list of books this year. Cheers!
Wow! That is one gorgeous dress!!
wow!
First: What a fabulous dress! You look wonderful!
Second: This is the year you’re at the NCTE conference? *sigh* I was an English teacher, and I went to three fall NCTE conventions–every year I’d hoped you’d be there!
I’d still be going if I were still an English teacher, I’m sure. (It runs simultaneously with the National Writing Project conference, which is usually right across the street.) Well, have fun! (NCTE’s always such a blast!)
You look……..mahvelous! (spoken in my best Fernando Lamas voice) 🙂
Congrats! Wow, it looks like an Olympic medal.I just got your book, so I’m digging in! Good luck with the rest of your whirlwind tour. Enjoy it, sleep later…
I might see you at the ALAN workshop! If I can figure out how to navigate everything. I’ve never been to anything like this before. 😉
You look MAHVELLOUS!! (and my daughter just said “She’s pretty!”)
And CHAINS was incredible!!!
I’m the reason Ron Hogan asked you about the IndieBound t-shirt, but that dress is so much better!
Sarah Rettger
Congratulations on being a National Book Award finalist! I’ve added Chains to my “must buy” list for next year (I’m a school library media specialist). I haven’t read it yet but I will soon. Gorgeous gown!
Stella
Whoa, radiance suits you, and that color is wonderful with your skin and hair. I got Chains from the library today — am so looking forward to reading it, and the other books, too.
That is an AWESOME dress! Congratulations!!!
your dress is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!! one of my all time favorite colors- i have little love affairs with leafy greens, or deep crimsons, but i always return to my one true love, peacock blue. plus the satiny sheen and the graceful draping affect. its just lovely, and looks lovely on you.
You cleans up GOOD!!! Stunning I say! (Of course, those are running shoes on your feet, right? 🙂 e
