Mother Nature, looking fab in a long white coat

Welcome to the snowbelt!!

In the past 48 hours, we’ve had a little more than four feet of snow fall, most of it arriving last night. When BH opened the garage this morning to let the dog out, she looked at the wall of snow facing her, looked at him, and said “What? You want me to go into that?” BH had to dig a trench so she could go out and do her business.

Pretty much everything is closed up here; schools, governments, stores, trains, roads. Not that it matters – we can’t get out our driveway, which is very, very long. We have a guy who plows it. We’re pretty sure he can’t get out of his driveway, either.

Oh, and it’s still snowing; a couple inches an hour. Today I am going to continue cleaning the office, and put on the snowshoes and tramp down a potty path for the dog. (I’ll let you know how that goes.)

I think I will also write poetry. It is beyond peaceful here. I love winter.

  1. I loooove when it snows this much. It’s so beautiful. And like you said, peaceful… besides the massive blows of wind every once in a while.
I live in Oswego & my dad went to open the garage door this morning to go to work & he said there was a three foot wall of snow there.
He called in to work & said he couldn’t make it… and if my dad won’t drive in this, then you know it’s bad.

  2. Mmmm, snow! Send some of it down to SW Virginia! They keep forcasting a few inches for us (which is really all I ask) and it never comes. 🙁

I want a good excuse to not leave my house and just get some writing done. If I can leave the house, it means I should be at work or grocery shopping or the like…

  3. Update:
I just went outside and attempted to play in the snow with my dog.
Didn’t turn out to well. My dog, had she been completely white, would have been well hidden in the snow.
The snow’s up to my waist. 😐

  4. That is so much snow! I can only remember having that much snow once in my whole life. Luckily, I was still little, so we went out and built the biggest snow fort ever. It took 3 weeks for it to melt completely!

Pretty much everything except nursing homes! Where I just happen to work. There was a crazy amount of call ins this morning. And of course there were the people who live just down the road and called in because it was snowing and they were just wanted an excuse. I’m lucky though, my wonderful daddy woke up early to snowblow the driveway, then drove me to work. Enjoy the winter wonderland that we didnt think we would get this winter.
