We interrupt this vacation….

…to bring you news of a very cool woman who is from my hometown.

I having been relaxing in a big way and catching up on much that needed to be caught. I’ll be in LaCrosse, Wisconsin next week talking to college professors and high school teachers. I hope we can meet under a large tree and sprawl in the grass while eating popsicles.

Enjoy what’s left of vacation. I’m reading a biography of William Faulkner and a thriller by Dana Stabenow. What are you reading?

  1. i just finished ‘the curious incident of the dog in the nite time’ by mark haddon. excellent!

now i’m working on ‘the kid’ by dan savage.

  2. Golly gee darn — I’m currently serving on my state libary association’s committe to choose the top teen book of the year, so I’m up to my eyes in fun reads. Currently it’s Between Mom and Jo by Julie Ann Peters, Freaks: Alive on the Inside! by Annette Klause, and The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner.

  3. I’m reading a book about the salem witch trials for my United States History1 Honors summer project. When I’m done with that, I will be reading Maus for my English summer project. I am horrible when it comes to summer projects – always putting them off to the last minute and such.

  4. I was reading The Once and Future King (well the spark notes anyways) but I’m not reading anything right now. I know I’m about to go into To Kill A Mockingbird for my high school English class.

  5. I am reading Diane Duane’s Deep Wizardry, studying Great Promo Pieces by Herman Holtz (prepping for the day when I will be promoting my first book), and listening to Black Creek Crossing by John Saul during the commute to and from my day job.

Next up in the reading queue: The Alchemist’s of Barbal by David Clement-Davies.

  6. I am reading…

The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown (exciting, good, although strangely detatched), The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (funny), and Gingerbread by Rachel something (not very creative or descriptive, but overall good). I have reread Speak and Catalyst about five times, so I am (almost) addicted.

Curiously enough, Douglas Adams, the author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Douglass Addams, the guy who writes Dilbert comics, are both good writers. (Douglass Addams has also written books about Dilbert.)
