A hint if you are moving

People like me and you should not be in charge of taking the poetry magnets off the fridge.

It’s like telling a three-year-old to pack the toys. Big mistake.

But after you finally get the magnets taken off and you’re pouting because you have nothing to play with, go to this poetry sandbox.

  1. I love this link! Thank you!

    My poem:
    i dreamed silence
    i have your mouth
    of glassy strangeness
    your peculiar tears of darkness
    little wise fool
    smile

Thanks. I planned on using poetry magnets in my classroom and this will be a really cool web site to get students even more involved.

  7. Thank you very much for the site tip. Just spent a good fifteen minutes making winter’s hands the spiteful iconoclasts of the world. It’s so easy to get lost in poetry!

Given your creative iPod playlist titles and the poetry sandbox, I suspect you’ll be writing Haiku all over your moving boxes. I’ll keep my eyes ajar for “The Moving Person’s Guide to Poetic Box Labeling” ala you as author.

Best wishes for a smooth move.

  10. Well, it is a good idea.

I just made a poem, it doesn’t quite make sense.

“A respectable man will keep himself in the sands as
    The Emperors secrets enfold
    The Ashamed dead
    Time is more
    Quotations he is in.”

No structure, no rhyme. But atlast, that poem spills out. They don’t give you good enough words to play with!

  13. Hello! My name is Kayla, I am 16 years old and I just wanted to praise you about your books, specifically Speak.

Anyway! I was wondering if you could do another photo writing prompt!

    Thanks-
    Kayla

  16. Whoa! The words I’m getting for “nonsense” are from the poem about the men who went to sea in a sieve, with the blue and green hands and heads, and the land where the Jumblies lived! OMG. Favorite childhood poem ever! WOW.

    That’s an awesome link! 😀

You (and the rest of the world) can send me mail at P.O. Box 906, Mexico, NY 13114.

I won’t be able to respond to mail until the end of August (LOTS of family stuff coming up!), but I will get too it, I promise.

    Thank you!
