Raleigh/Durham Day & CT schedule

So, here’s the thing – if you want to live in an area with great bookstores, move here. These were outstanding bookstores.

I could leave it at that, but I promised I’d post photos, so here goes.

Image hosted by TinyPic.com a small part of the group at Regulator Bookshop in Durham. Many thanks to the women of Durham Academy who turned up with teachers in tow, and the other teens who came even though they were on spring break. (We even had a teacher from Ohio who came on break!)

Image hosted by TinyPic.com Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh was packed!!

Image hosted by TinyPic.com One of my best buddies, Marnie, came out and brought me a corsage. *blush*

Image hosted by TinyPic.com In a humbling and somehow appropriate display, Quail Ridge hangs nicely framed photos of authors who have visited their store in the bathroom. The tiny (yet powerful) sales rep you see is Doni Kay, who made my day fly with great conversation.

I have to wake up in five hours. Ack. I have set three alarms, and my BH has promised a back-up wake-up call so I don’t have another Kalamistake.

This is where you can find me tomorrow.

5:30am in line at coffee shop in airport.

3-5pm Dandy Tales, 13 South Ave., New Canaan CT, 203-966-7713

7-9 pm Diane’s Books, 8A Grigg St., Greenwich, CT, 203-869-1515

On Thursday, I’ll be in Naperville, IL, and Notre Dame, IN.

  1. The bathroom in our bookstore is a lot scarier than that one. We hang stuff from dumps and displays all over the walls. Either way, I guess there’s a lot of eyes watching you! LOL

  4. Hi Laurie!! I’m so excited I got to meet you. (I’m Naomi, the first one in line at the Regulator)

I think that’s a funny picture of me. I’m in the corner and you can see half of my dad.

  7. Hey there!!!

HI! Found your livejournal through another great writer’s livejournal–Sarah Dessen. She told us that the two of you will be doing a reading in Austin in the near future. I think that’s great. You both inspire young adults and it doesn’t stop there..it goes farther than that. I think you are an awesome writer. I was exposed to you first through my Sophomore high school English class. My student teacher actually introduced your book SPEAK, which is amazing, to us and we read it in class. I really loved the voice of the story. It definately should be read by every YA and I highly recommend it to anyone who comes my way. Keep up the good work chick! YOU ROCK!

P.S. Glad you found the Easter Egg! lol

  10. Oswego, NY

Hi, I think your schedule said that you would be in Oswego, NY April 2nd (this Saturday) at 2pm, but seeing that you’re doing something Thursday in IL and IN.. and your schedule on the site has changed, so um I was just wondering if you know whether or not you will be there April 2nd or not? I just don’t want to go all the way there and have something changed, that’s all—I understand if you don’t know which day it would be- just if it will be that exact day or not. Sorry if I’ve confused you beyond belief! Thanks!!

PS I finally got to read Prom (got it for my bday!!) and really enjoyed it. Your books really make me think!

  13. She and Eric were both there – they look great. I forgot to ask her permission to post their photo on the LJ, that’s why you didn’t see them today.

  16. Hi Naomi! It was very nice of you to come out! Does your Dad write books, too? He seemed to be nodding a lot when I was talking about some of the writing stuff.

Theo has been playing with the graphics on the Schedule page and some of the info was lost.

I will definately be there at River’s End in Oswego at 2pm on Saturday, April 2nd. I’m wearing a prom dress and Beloved Husband will be in a tux. Rumor has it that we’re arriving in a stretch limo. It would be so much fun if you could join us!!

  28. My dad is a professor, so he has written a book or two and articles for some stuff, so I suspect he knows a lot about the writing process. But writing’s not a thing he does for a living or anything.
