Duh.

Forgot to mention the lovely lunch of legumes I enjoying with lively literary librarian ladies.

I desperately need coffee

and sleep

and punctuation

  1. is your legume lunch at seva, by chance? and is erin h. among your group of luminaries? if so, say hello!

(i grew up in ann arbor…)

and i am jealous of you for getting to go to commie high.

oh, and you should go to zingerman’s before you leave ann arbor. they have wifi, too! (not to mention insanely good food. and coffee.)

  4. Yes, Seva it was, and Erin and I talked about you in the car. (All good!) That high school is fantastic. If I had gone there, maybe I wouldn’t have turned out so bitter and warped. But if I weren’t bitter and warped, I probably wouldn’t be an author, so who knows?

I’ll try to find a zingerman’s right now. I’d chew coffee beans if anybody offered them to me. It will be very embarassing if I fall asleep DURING tonight’s gig.

    I do so like Erin!

  10. Catalyst Question

I just read Catalyst yesterday. The book is enjoyable, Kate’s reaction of the MIT rejection, reminds me of when I was applying for high schools in 8th grade.

I just have a question about the characters, it’s about Mitch. Throughout the novel Mitch and Kate switched views and ideals, it is a very interesting issue in the book. Why isn’t that matter expanded on more? Why did Mitch have to end as a jerk?

Mitch is the character that appeals to me most. If you ever consider writing about their community again, a story centered around him would be awesome. Hmm I wonder, if there are any fanfictions out there about Catalyst. Otherwise, I loved your book.

  19. Erin is the teen librarian at the main branch of the Ann Arbor District Library. I miss Ann Arbor and AADL. 🙁 (I interned in the youth dept. while I was getting my MSI.)

Laurie, hope you don’t mind my popping in here with a comment that’s not really relevant, but I thought this was strange. I went to CHS, and I found this page doing a Google search on http://www.livejournal.com for “Ann Arbor” and “Community High” and found this thread… and then I was really surprised to find Sharyn November posting here, whom I’ve e-mailed a few times about unrelated things. It just struck me as an odd coincidence.

    Okay, I’ll go away now.
